Following Light

This piece has an interesting story behind it.
It was taken during my first major travelling experience....the 2 month backpacking tour of Europe, alone. I was 21, the summer was on and I had about 4 grand to spend on culture, life and the glorious continent. I became a travel junkie immediately. Meeting innumerable cool and interesting people, visiting some of the best art and churches occured every day of my trip. I came to the realization that i wanted to see the world and learn about the differences amoung people and have since come to learn that people are more similar than different, on the inside.

Anyway, in the middle of one day of my trip, I decided to change plans, and go to Eastern Europe for a couple weeks. On the train, I met a few really cool people who convinced me to go Prague.
I was amazed how beautiful it was....
I liked photography, but knew nothing about it other than i liked pictures and i wanted to document the best trip of my life. I took this picture with a broken 35 dollar camera. As I was getting ready to take it, some weird, bitchy girl chortled that the picture would not come out and 'duh' as the overall tone of her remarks. I listened to her snide comments and dismissed her, and decided that i would never listen to people who get off on shitting on someone else's parade and take the picture anyway, regardless of her caveat.
Since then, I have had this picture on my wall....of course, it is religious themed, but i always think about how you must follow the light...your light and follow what is in your heart alone, when I look at this piece.
