Artist's Comments

Taken at a roadside market in Cambodia, this girl was not more than 10 years of age with this small baby in arm.
Poverty is one of the most oppressive realities most of the world lives with throughout thier lives...

Daily Deviation

Given 2003-04-27

Sometimes it's better to use the words of an artist rather than attempt to feel what they felt when taking the photograph. "Poverty is one of the most oppressive realities most of the world lives with throughout their lives..." Photography isn't always going to be a beautiful flower, a luscious person, or a superb piece of architecture...photography will sometimes be the only way that someone can depict life in another part of the country. Photography tells a story no matter how telling that story may be. The Children of Reality by lorrainemd stands for truth, a small piece of integrity in an otherwise dishonest world. This isn't the only powerful image in * lorrainemd's gallery! (Selected by +flummox) (Featured by `flummox)

an absolutely amazing photo. photos speak louder than words, and this photo is shouting.
:icondonnival:
You capture the feeling of lost hope (or even hope never experienced) in this photograph so poignantly. Her expression ...
:iconinverno:
Really expressive. I think this could be MUCH MUCH better in B&W, beside it is a document photography (I dunno the correct name in English). But seems like a Sebastiao Salgado shot.

Brilliant picture. You captured what you were trying to capture and I think that's great.
:iconnewbieforever:

Please excuse my idiocy. I can't apologize enough.

Amazing. That's all I have to say.

blah blah nice photo blah blah

90% of the comments around here are nothing but ego inflating crap. this is so great. great. yeah it rocks! I'll make a stupid comment.

Now that I've gotten THAT out of the way I will make my comment...

this photograph not only shows the raw emotion and despair of that little girl and what I am presuming his her sibling... but it also sums up the state of the world right now... and where it is going. This is a picture to represent all of the events taking place right now and could become the "poster" to sum up what goes on over the next few years.

Very very very great photograph. It's fine in color, screw the B&W fanatics :) (Smile)

keep up the good ... I mean GREAT work :-D
:iconflashlight:
i might say the photo is amzing, but have you ever thought why are they poor,
most of them its because of their will.

From those unique photos that become a masterpiece.

It is very sad to see that there are people who do not have anything... yet there are people who waste all the resources of the earth.

Congratulations about a well deserved DD.
They gave you the award for the side I love from you... The urban one.
